How Do I Read the Bible

Why Read The Bible

Understand that there is a difference between reading the Bible and studying the Bible. Both are important. Studying the Bible is a close up examination of a portion of scripture or topic to understand that particular section in a deeper and hopefully more accurate way. Reading the Bible however is zooming out to look at the Bible as a whole and understanding how all the parts fit together.

Daily reading is not about a detailed study or memorization of the scripture but simply an act of feeding on the “Bread of Life”. We are spiritual beings in a natural body. We eat two or three times a day to feed our natural bodies but how often are we feeding our spiritual bodies? John 4:24 tells that God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit. We need to partake of the spiritual food God has provided us with which is His Word.

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
Matt 4:4-5
